Development Rationale Behind JLN-3150E Reinforced Water Activated Tape

May 27, 2026

Our R&D team observed that most packaging uses plastic-based sealing tape, which is not environmentally friendly. Traditional BOPP and PVC tapes require physical separation before recycling, increasing processing costs. This process bottleneck prompted us to develop a sealing solution that maintains packaging line efficiency while completely eliminating plastic residue in the recycling stream. The JLN-3150E reinforced water-activated tape is designed specifically to address this material compatibility requirement.

This product is positioned in the lightweight segment of our water-activated tape series, utilizing a natural kraft paper base, a starch-based adhesive system, and an embedded plant fiber reinforcing mesh. The core of its adhesive chemical formulation is controlled moisture activation, allowing the starch component to fully penetrate the cellulose fibers on the tape and carton surface. After drying and curing, the adhesive forms a fiber-to-fiber structural bond, fusing with the corrugated substrate. This mechanism eliminates the need for secondary separation during recycling; the sealed, intact packaging can directly enter standard pulping equipment for processing, and the adhesive will not interfere with fiber recycling.
